Working Together for One World
Community Building in Cambodia
Cambodia is finally emerging from a violent and turbulent past that left 36% of the population below the poverty level.  With the return of political stability, rebuilding can begin, but assistance from outside Cambodia is needed to help the country get back on its feet.  This program provides three different way to help:
1.  House Building

We will take a team of "builders" - no prior experience required - to Cambodia in February 2005.  As a team we will build houses for Cambodian families who otherwise could not afford them.  This is an incredibly moving experience - both humbling and exhilarating.  Builders are responsible for their own travel, lodging and meals expenses.  In addition, adult builders are required to donate $300 for building materials.

2.  Targeted Contributions
For those who cannot afford the time or expense of the building trip, it is possible to make targeted contributions.  A small contribution goes a long way.  For example:

$5 buys textbooks

$20 buys rice for a family for a month

$85 buys a water well for five families

3.  Help with Organization
You can provide valuable support to the project by helping to arrange meetings within your own community where we can talk with interested groups.  No group is too small.  Some examples:  your school, your PTA, your sports team, your place of worship.

Program Goals:
1.  Raise $20,000 for Cambodian communities
2.  Recruit a team of builders for a April 2007 trip
3.  Raise awareness in our own communities about the lives of people in other countries.  We are lucky as Americans and this program provides an opportunity to share what we have with others who don't have as much.
